I Couldn’t Sleep

I Couldn’t Sleep
by Mr. Lucas Brice

I couldn’t sleep at all last night,
Not a bloody wink,
I laid there in an awful fright,
All I could do was think.

Think about life,
Think about the past,
Think about my wife,
Thinking much too fast…

The clock said it was two-fifteen,
And then it said four-thirty,
I ask myself what could it mean,
And then I heard the birdies.

The sun came out,
There were signs of life,
I wanted to shout,
But couldn’t wake my wife…

I couldn’t sleep at all last night,
And now I’m very tired,
Without some sleep I don’t feel right,
And coffee makes me wired.
